WILDLIFE LIMITED EDITION PRINTS

AN INTRODUCTION BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER

As a child, my interest and fascination in photography began while witnessing and sometimes participating in the photographic activities of my father and grand father. Their enthusiasm for candid reality and accuracy of exposure in their work as well as the enjoyment they experienced from this endeavor truly left an impression on me.

Although formally trained in the field of Law, I chose to pursue the business world in the corporate marketing and manufacturing aspect. This was challenging and I achieved considerable success in my work. But, as time went on, I realized there was very little personal satisfaction to be realized from this career.

Through the years, I have always kept up with my photography activities as time would permit in my schedule. Then, came the day that I visited Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton area... I came away from those places a changed person and began to clearly see what it was that I really wanted to do.

So, once again I became a student and began the process of education and awareness in the field of photography and more importantly in the natural world of this planet, my subject.

The experience and technology brought to photography has given mankind a truly profound tool on which to view and study his world. In my work and study in wildlife photography, I am constantly impressed by the details, colors and emotions expressed in the images that are created.

Unfortunately, I have also learned that these subjects of nature are simply survivors of their species and that their future is not always considered alongside the future of mankind. Over and over, many animal species have proved to be flexible, adaptable and durable. Our economic and demographic developments are a real threat to many species and some may not be able to withstand our expansion. One of the real issue we all will have to address soon is the necessity to make few adjustments in our activities in order to secure a future for so many species. Some are already survivors. It is the case of the cranes, the grisly bears, moose...It is probably time for many of us to test the quality of our soul and decide if we will preserve a moderate amount of living space for so many animal species. In most instances, there is no irreconcilable gap between the environmental policies favoring humans and those favoring the animals. It is just a matter of making some adjustments to preserve a viable environment for both them and for us. My goal, for the limited edition prints I have and hope to continue to create as well as for few long term projects, would be that a better understanding of the concept of "Our World" would include all species of creatures and living things as part of this existence we call "Our World".

THE GALLERY

You can click on any of the following images to enlarge them on your screen.

I am profoundly committed to serve the field of Nature Photography but would also like to provide Education, disseminate information and promote Nature photography as an art form and a medium of communication for the sciences,  Nature appreciation and environmental protection.  For these reasons and even though I am fascinated by some of the Technological progress we have experienced during this last decade, I am very critical of digitally created or modified images in the field of Wildlife Photography (retouching is an absolute necesity in portraiture and other application). Consequently our gallery only displays authentic and unretouched images,  Just as Nature appeared at the time the images were created.
